Healthcare Policy Benchmarking

In this report, UrbanBound aggregated and anonymized the data of 40 relocation policies from US-based healthcare organizations. These companies have between 800-60,000 employees and represent both non-profit and for-profit healthcare organizations.

Policy Structure

How are policies structured?

The majority of aggregated data shows a strong preference for a managed budget program with multiple policy levels reflective of different employee levels and/or job function.

Managed budget policies are by far the most common type of policy, due to the ability to contain costs in comparison to other program types. Additionally, managed budget relocation policies allow for increased flexibility in the type of benefits that can be offered.

100%

of companies surveyed require repayment of benefits if an employee leaves the company or is terminated with cause within 12 or 24 months of accepting the new position.

Budgets and Taxes

Temporary Housing

Temporary Housing, sometimes referred to as Corporate Housing, is a short-term lease of an apartment in order to support an employee's start date at their new location prior to securing permanent housing. This also often supports a relocated employee while their family is still at the location of origin.
